When she was asked during an interview on Oprah why she named her daughter Apple,actress Gwyneth Paltrow said: “When we were first pregnant, her daddy [Coldplay frontman Chris Martin] said, if it’s a girl I think her name should be Apple. It sounded so sweet, and it conjures such a lovely picture for me, you know apples are so sweet and they’re wholesome, and it’s biblical.” In other words, they had a whole, uh, bushel of reasons for naming their daughter after fruit.
